Standard edition:

	Oracle Database Standard Edition is Oracle's core database product. It incorporates all the key Oracle database features, but excludes some premium features available only in Enterprise Edition. Oracle Standard Edition is available only for servers that have a maximum capacity of 4 processors - for larger servers, Enterprise Edition must be chosen.

Oracle Database Standard Edition is a highly resilient and scalable product. For many medium and even larger applications, Standard Edition delivers all the features required at an attractive price. We recommend that Standard Edition or Standard Edition One is chosen over Enterprise Edition unless the features only available in Enterprise Edition are required by your application, or if your server does not meet the associated processor capacity restrictions.
Oracle10g Database Standard Edition includes Oracle's clustering technology, Real Application Clusters, for resilience and scalability.
Databases created under Oracle Standard Edition are fully compatible with Oracle Enterprise Edition. If you need to upgrade to Enterprise Edition later, this is a simple matter of installing the Enterprise Edition software.

Oracle9i Standard Edition and Oracle10g Standard Edition are available for the following operating systems:
